1. In short
In the Administrative Documents module you can now upload an entire folder from your computer, with its full structure of subfolders and files — either through the Upload Folder button, or by dragging files or folders directly over the content of the open folder. The structure is recreated in the platform, the files land in the corresponding subfolders, and existing folders with the same name are reused. Together with this feature, deleting a folder that has content becomes possible (recursively, with a warning), and navigation gains a Back button and a breadcrumb path. The feature is used for quickly migrating document archives (for example a project folder), without creating the subfolders by hand.

The navigation bar of the Contracts folder: on the left, the Back button and the breadcrumb “Administrative Documents / Demo Project / Contracts”; on the right, the ⋮ menu and the New Folder, Upload Files, Upload Folder buttons.
2. Where to find it
- → open a folder → the buttons in the top right: New Folder, Upload Files, Upload Folder, New Document
- → open folder → drag & drop over the area with the folder content
- → open folder → the ⋮ menu → Delete (or, on the folder row in the parent list, ⋮ → Delete)
3. Before you start
- Open a folder first: the feature is not available on the root page (the list of level 0 folders).
- For Upload Folder, drag & drop and completing the upload you need the add permission in Administrative Documents (or an administrator account) and access to the current folder.
- For recursive deletion you need the delete permission and access to the folder.
- Prepare on your computer the folder to be uploaded (for example the Demo Project folder, with the Contracts, Invoices and Photos subfolders), observing the limits: maximum 200 files, 512 MB in total and 10 levels of depth per operation.
4. Navigating through folders (Back, breadcrumb)
Step 1. Open and enter a folder (for example ). In the top bar of the folder you will see the Back button, the breadcrumb and the New Folder, Upload Files, Upload Folder buttons.
Step 2. Click an earlier item in the breadcrumb (for example Demo Project) to jump directly to that folder. The breadcrumb shows the full path ( › the current folder), with a link on each earlier item, and replaces the old “.. / Folder name” title.
Step 3. Click Back to go to the parent folder. For a level 0 folder, Back leads to the Administrative Documents page.
Note: the same navigation (Back and breadcrumb) also appears in the preview page of a file.

5. Uploading a folder with the Upload Folder button
Step 1. Open the folder where the structure should land (for example Demo Project).
Step 2. Click Upload Folder and choose a folder from your computer in the operating system selection window. The chosen folder becomes a subfolder of the current folder, with its whole structure.
Warning: through the folder selector, empty subfolders are not detected — these can only be brought in through drag & drop (chapter 6). macOS system files (__MACOSX, .DS_Store) are ignored automatically.
Step 3. Check the Upload Folder window, which opens after the selection.

The Upload Folder window: the summary “14 files, 2 empty folders ready for upload.”, the line with the limits, the Tags field, the checked “Create empty folders too” box and the Close / Start Upload buttons.
| Field | What you fill in | Mandatory |
|---|---|---|
| Summary | Shown automatically: “N files, M empty folders ready for upload.” | — |
| Limits | Shown automatically: maximum 200 files, 512 MB in total and 10 levels of depth per operation (fixed values). | — |
| Tags | Multiple selection, optional. The chosen tags are applied to all uploaded files and to the newly created folders (not to the existing folders that are reused). | No |
| Create empty folders too | Checkbox, checked by default, shown only in folder mode. | No |
Step 4. Click Start Upload. The button is unavailable as long as there are validation errors: no files, too many files, total size exceeded, depth exceeded.
Step 5. Follow the progress in the window: “Uploading files — X of Y”, then “Finishing”. At the end the report “Completed: X succeeded, Y failed.” appears, with the list of failed files and the reason for each.

The Upload Folder window after the upload: the full progress bar, the text “Finishing — 24 of 24”, the report “Completed: 23 succeeded, 1 failed.” and the list of failed files.
Step 6. If at least one file succeeded, the page reloads automatically with the new structure. Open the created subfolder to check the result.

The newly created folder, with the Contracts, Invoices and Photos subfolders and the uploaded files, all carrying the chosen tag; the file with a duplicate name received a numeric suffix (demo_minutes.pdf and demo_minutes_2.pdf).
6. Uploading through drag & drop
Step 1. Open the destination folder (for example Demo Project) and show your computer’s file window next to it.
Step 2. Drag files and/or folders from your computer over the area with the folder content. The message “Drop to upload” appears over the area.

The content of the Demo Project folder (the Active / Archive tabs) with the drop area outlined with a dashed border and the message “Drop to upload” in the middle.
Step 3. Release the items. Folders are traversed completely, including the empty subfolders. The Upload Folder window opens or, when there is no folder structure, Upload Files.
Note: if you drag only files, they land directly in the current folder, without structure; the Upload Files window shows the summary “N files ready for upload.” and the Tags field, without the Create empty folders too checkbox.
Step 4. Fill in the window (tags, the Create empty folders too checkbox) and click Start Upload, as in chapter 5, steps 3–6.
7. Deleting a folder that has content
Step 1. Open the folder you want to delete (for example Demo Project) and click the ⋮ menu in the top bar, then Delete (alternatively, from the parent folder list: the ⋮ menu on the folder row → Delete).

Step 2. Read the confirmation dialog. It shows the folder name and, if it has content, “This folder contains N subfolders and M files. All of them will be permanently deleted.”

The “Delete folder” dialog for Demo Project: the text “This folder contains 3 subfolders and 24 files. All of them will be permanently deleted.”, the confirmation question and the Close / Delete buttons.
Step 3. Click Delete. All subfolders and files are deleted, and you land in the parent folder. With Close you give up.
Warning: the deletion is permanent — this is why the warning shows the number of subfolders and files.
8. What you see afterwards
- In the current folder: the uploaded subfolder, with the whole structure recreated (one subfolder for each level of the path) and the files in the corresponding subfolders.
- The tags chosen at upload appear on the uploaded files and on the newly created folders.
- The new folders show Access (Public / Private) and Users inherited from the folder in which the upload was made.
- Files with a duplicate name appear with a numeric suffix (report.pdf → report_2.pdf).
- The navigation bar of the folders and of the file preview shows the Back button and the breadcrumb.
9. Rules and limits
- Fixed limits per operation: maximum 200 files, 512 MB in total, 10 levels of depth.
- The feature is not available on the root page (the list of level 0 folders).
- The folder selector (Upload Folder) does not detect empty subfolders; drag & drop brings them in, including the empty ones.
- macOS system files (__MACOSX, .DS_Store) are ignored automatically.
- A subfolder is created for each level of the path; new folders inherit Access (Public / Private) and Users from the folder in which the upload is made and receive the chosen tags.
- If a folder with exactly the same name already exists under the same parent, it is reused — provided the user has access to it; otherwise the files meant for it fail with “You do not have access to the destination folder.”.
- Files take over the access and the users of the folder they land in; the name is normalised as in a regular upload.
- Existing files are not overwritten: a file with the same name receives a numeric suffix (report.pdf → report_2.pdf).
- Every file is scanned for viruses; a rejected file appears in the report with the reason “File upload error.” and does not block the rest.
- The Start Upload button is unavailable as long as there are validation errors: no files, too many files, total size exceeded, depth exceeded.
- The final report “Completed: X succeeded, Y failed.” lists the failed files and the reason for each; if at least one file succeeded, the page reloads automatically.
- Deleting a folder is recursive (all subfolders and files), with a warning showing the number of subfolders and files; after the deletion you land in the parent folder.
10. Settings and permissions
There are no configurable settings; the limits are fixed.
- Upload Folder, drag & drop and completing the upload — the add permission in Administrative Documents (or an administrator user) and access to the current folder;
- recursive deletion — the delete permission and access to the folder;
- viewing — the view permission.
11. Impact on other modules
- : the only module affected (folders, files, tags, Public / Private access, the users with access); the new navigation also appears in the preview page of a file.
