“Main Warehouse” (Gestiunea Principală) is just a generic name, automatically configured to provide a minimum management base. You can rename this management unit or create new ones according to your specific business requirements. Essentially, the platform gives you the freedom to customize inventory management to correctly reflect your operational structure.
The platform allows you to enter new management units directly when adding a new product. If you start typing a management unit name that is not already registered, you will see the quick add option for that unit. Alternatively, you can manage all units from the Settings -> Products section, where you will find a complete list of existing units and the option to add new ones.
Multiple management units are essential if you have stock split across multiple locations or departments. For example:
- If you have several warehouses or work points, you can create a management unit for each location.
- In the case of product diversification, you can organize stocks into management units based on item types.
- If you work with multiple teams managing different materials, management units help maintain strict control.
- From an accounting perspective, management units allow you to precisely track inflows, outflows, and inventory value for specific units, ensuring the traceability of stock movements.
