EDIH DIGIVEST: Free digitalization services for SMEs in the West Region

ADR Vest (West Regional Development Agency) has launched a public consultation on the guide for selecting beneficiaries of digitalization support services offered through the European Digital Innovation Hub DIGIVEST. The services are fully funded, at no cost to the company.

The public consultation took place between July 29 and August 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM. This is the third round of this selection call, indicating steady demand from companies in the region.

The difference compared to a classic call is essential: no money is granted, only services. The selected company does not receive a grant, does not open a MySMIS account, and has no settlement obligations. Instead, it receives free access to a package of services provided by the hub.

Typical services of a European Digital Innovation Hub include assessing the company's digital maturity, consulting for defining a digitalization strategy, testing technologies before investment, and staff training. The cost of these is fully covered by European and national funding.

Eligible entities are SMEs in the West Region, namely from Arad, Caraș-Severin, Hunedoara, and Timiș.

For a company considering a digitalization project subsequently funded by European funds, going through the EDIH is a logical step. Assessing digital maturity and testing technologies before investing significantly reduces the risk of building a project on wrong premises, and the resulting documentation can be used as a foundation in a subsequent funding application.

The European network of digital innovation hubs was created to solve a specific problem: small companies know they need to digitalize but don't know where to start and cannot afford specialized consultancy. The model proposes a neutral, publicly funded intermediary that provides diagnosis and guidance without selling a specific solution.

For a company in the West Region, the practical value is most clearly seen in the test-before-invest stage. The possibility of testing an automation solution or a production management system in a controlled environment, before signing a contract worth several hundred thousand EUR, substantially reduces the risk of a wrong purchase, which is the most common way digitalization projects fail.
