The Ministry of Investment and European Projects (Ministerul Investițiilor și Proiectelor Europene - MIPE) has published the updated version of the estimated calendar for 2026. Comparison with the February document shows a reduction of nearly a quarter in the number of calls and over 25% in total value.
In February 2026, MIPE announced nearly 300 calls with a total value of 6.6 billion euros. The consolidated version published on May 12 indicates approximately 226 calls and a value of over 4.8 billion euros, of which about 3.6 billion represent European funds.
The difference does not necessarily mean that the money has disappeared. Some calls have been rescheduled for 2027, others have been merged, and others have been eliminated because the allocation was redirected to financial instruments or other priorities.
For a company planning to access funds, the practical lesson is that an estimated calendar published in January or February has limited informative value. Investment decisions cannot be built on announced calls, but only on guides published for consultation or, ideally, approved.
The revision also confirms a pattern observable in the field during the first half of the year: many regional calls for companies remained stuck in the public consultation stage, and the actual openings for submissions were delayed by months compared to initial estimates.
The recommendation remains the same: companies should directly monitor the calendar pages of the regional development agencies and management authorities, which are updated more frequently than the ministry's centralized document.
The comparison between the two versions of the calendar is also useful as an institutional diagnostic tool. The reduction was not distributed uniformly: calls with guides already in consultation mostly survived, while those only at the intention stage disappeared from the list. It is a practical indicator of what is worth following and what is not.
For consultants and companies planning their development budgets, the resulting operational rule is simple. A call has real credibility only from the moment the guide enters public consultation. Until then, any mention in the calendar remains an administrative intention, with a probability of materialization that recent years have shown to be below fifty percent.
